Program Overview The program, led by Peraton Labs with external infrastructure support, conducts advanced research for the customer on a variety of topics, including cybersecurity, RF solutions, and quantum communications. Mission focus is on developing next‑gen tools for detecting cyber‑attacks, enhancing network resilience, and improving small‑form factor sensor systems while maintaining a focus on cutting‑edge technologies like machine learning and software‑defined networking.

About The Role We are actively seeking a software engineer with machine learning experience to join our team of software research scientists working on cleared research within the Maryland customer footprint. The perfect candidate for this role is someone with a strong technical prowess, inquisitive and curious nature, and a strong desire to learn.

Primary Responsibilities

Conduct RF machine learning research or develop signal processing algorithms for wireless systems.

Communicate results through customer presentations and publications.

Write design documents, simulation reports, and system documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of experience or a Master’s degree with no required experience in Computer Science-related fields.

Experience coding in Python, C/C++, or Java.

Interest or experience in digital signal processing, RF software engineering, algorithm development, software‑defined radio, or machine learning.

Experience with modern machine learning development frameworks and platforms (e.g., Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch).

U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI Polyglot clearance.

Desired Skills

Familiarity with software‑defined radio platforms such as Ettus USRPs and GNU Radio.

Knowledge of Open Air Interface (OAI) or srsLTE software stacks.

Experience with multiple‑antenna or distributed signal processing techniques.

Knowledge of LTE standards.

Salary and Benefits Target Salary Range: $80,000 – $128,000. Salary is determined by factors including scope and responsibilities, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, geography, and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay.
