Medical Receptionist Position at Townsen Memorial Hospital
Townsen Memorial Hospital is hiring for a full-time medical receptionist to join our imaging facility located in Humble, TX. Medical receptionist duties and work encompass many tasks such as greeting patients, scheduling appointments, performing clerical duties, and providing medical procedural support. Exhibits professionalism at all times while answering inquiries and providing information to the general public, visitors, patients, and other interested parties regarding activities conducted at the establishment and location of departments, offices, and employees within the organization. Supports medical staff by completing administrative requirements as assigned.
Essential functions include demonstrating customer service standards, greeting patients as they arrive into the facility and providing them with appropriate information, assisting patients to complete all necessary forms and documentation, ensuring completeness and accuracy of patients forms and logging all demographics in the EMR system, updating patients information into the database, moving patients through appointments as scheduled, keeping patient appointments on schedule by notifying the provider of patients arrival, responding and complying to requests for information including sending faxes and e-mails, answering telephone and dealing with inquiries, transferring calls as required, directing calls and messages to appropriate medical office staff, maintaining patient accounts by obtaining recording and updating personal and financial information into e-clinical, obtaining revenue by recording and updating financial information recording and collecting patient charges, calling patients and reminding them of their appointments, keeping patients families informed of patient status, scheduling and rescheduling patients appointments, updating appointment calendars, creating and labeling appropriate charts for patients, managing filing and record keeping activities, obtaining all necessary documents related to the patient chart as needed, coordinating mail flow in and out of office, maintaining stock of forms and office supplies, ensuring reception area is well maintained neat and clean including the magazines, ensuring all vendors and visitors are signed in and processed according to facility policy, and performing other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology, knowledge of computer and relevant software applications, strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word, strong attention to detail, being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks, has self-control to maintain composure keeping emotions in check, controlling anger and avoiding aggressive behavior even in difficult situations, high stress tolerance, accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations, ability to adapt with flexibility, being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace, ability to work independently by guiding oneself with little or no supervision and depending on oneself to get things done, ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow, must be able to multi-task while on the job, must be task-oriented and have organizational skills, excellent polished patient interaction skills, ability to communicate professionally with patients, exceptional customer service and phone etiquette, energetic with a desire to learn and develop new skills.
Education and experience include high school diploma or its equivalent, one (1) year of experience in customer service, and basic life support (BLS) certification.
