The Denu Hotel in Phoenix is preparing for its grand opening, positioning itself as a premier destination for both group and transient business. The Director of Sales role will be critical in ensuring commercial success, driving group room nights, banquet and catering revenues, and transient contributions. Key Responsibilities

Provide guidance and direction to ensure overall departmental success. Manage subordinate sales staff and oversee the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Sales Department. Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsible for planning department goals and directing team members to achieve results. Actively solicit new business opportunities through prospecting new customers and using network channels to open doors to new customers. Seek methods to penetrate key business activities within the marketplace and find profitable ways to bring this business to the hotel. Research market information and client trends locally. Develop and implement individual and department sales plans to successfully identify and close new/additional business. Participate in community and industry events to market the property. Develop strategies for forecasting and analyzing sales needs and developing effective product responses, delivery systems, and methods for measuring and evaluating results. Implement and evaluate short and long‑term tactics and programs focused on customer and market needs/conditions to ensure the achievement of revenue goals. Ensure accurate and current related sales/marketing data is readily available to support and document decision making processes. Plan, manage and evaluate all financial aspects of sales efforts at the property to ensure cost effectiveness and optimal utilization of resources. Support all staff’s direct sales efforts including sales trips, off‑property functions, and customer entertainment. Participate in the hiring process by interviewing potential team members and selecting those that best meet staffing needs. Participate in management training. Follow all Human Resources policies and ensure staff receive required training or attend mandatory meetings. Prepare the annual budget. Achieve budgeted revenues, control expenses, and maximize profitability within assigned areas. Utilize corporate‑approved computer programs to analyze forecasts, cost, and revenue reports. Make decisions and take action based on that information to maximize profitability. Ensure guests receive outstanding, consistent, exceptional service by working with other departments to communicate guest expectations and ensure expectations are met or exceeded. Seek opportunities to improve satisfaction and immediately handle any guest concerns or complaints. What You Will Bring

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management desired. Five or more years of related and progressive sales leadership experience in a similar organization or property. Five years as a supervisor/manager in a similar setting desired. Pre‑opening hotel experience would be desired. Working independently on a property and managing representation groups is desired. Solid knowledge of hotel service standards, guest relations, and etiquette. Ability to lead and coordinate staff in a high‑volume, time‑sensitive environment. Ability to develop and maintain effective sales processes designed to attain maximum revenue while ensuring adherence to established operating criteria. Strong knowledge of sales techniques with strong skills and ability to negotiate and close sales. Ability to determine needs of customers and persuasively present sales options through verbal, face‑to‑face, and telephone interactions. Must create and effectively provide sales presentations and materials to potential customers.
