The MRI Technologist performs a variety of routine and advanced MRI procedures in a strong magnetic field while monitoring and maintaining essential patient care and safety. Flexibility to work overtime/cover other shifts and sites as needed. Holiday and on‑call rotation are mandatory.
Job Description Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Obtains and documents necessary patient information from the patient/family/significant others and health‑care providers pertinent to the care of the patient (e.g., safety related to the magnetic field, medical history for relevance of the exam ordered).
Completes assessments by utilizing medical records, radiology requisitions, and physician orders to ensure appropriateness of procedures.
Assesses patient’s condition/status ensuring the ability of the patient to proceed with the MRI exam.
Documents all pertinent information involving the use of oral/IV contrast in the Department Log Book and obtains accurate allergy information.
Performs all MRI exams with 100% accuracy, accurately following departmental clinical protocols, including post‑processing.
Begins and completes all MRI exams utilizing the RIS tracking system with 100% accuracy (98‑100% of the time).
Utilizes the PACS modality work list with 100% accuracy for patient demographics and accession number.
Properly QC’s MRI studies utilizing PACS.
Evaluates images for diagnostic purposes, recognizing anatomy and pathology to determine if an additional scan or contrast is needed.
Follows all safety protocols relating to magnet safety with 100% accuracy 100% of the time.
Contributes to the team approach to provide optimal quality patient care/customer satisfaction by working non‑assigned shifts as needed and other sites.
Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.
Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles, Mission Statement, and Goals into daily activities.
Complies with all Lahey Clinic policies and departmental behavioral expectations.
Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.
Demonstrates an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.
Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards.
Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.
Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet departmental needs.
Requires moving about on foot throughout the department and hospital, using upper extremities to push, pull, or drag equipment and/or patients, frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling, and manual dexterity to manipulate dials and push buttons.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Graduate of an AMA‑approved Radiology Technology Program.
Licensure, Certification, Registration:
Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with an MR designation; BLS certified.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Proficient in cross‑sectional anatomy, MRI scanners/power injectors/venipuncture, and magnet safety. Ability to be trained to a level of competency if not yet proficient.
Experience:
Two years’ experience in a hospital setting and good working knowledge of PACS and/or ability to be trained to a level of competency.
Pay Range $48.00 – $71.33 per hour (base hourly wage). Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other applicable practices.
All staff must be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.
