Maybell Quantum is seeking an experienced Controls & Test Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team and take ownership of embedded controls, system automation, and testing workflows. Our ideal team member can excel in a fast‑paced hardware‑based startup environment.
Responsibilities This role combines real‑time controls, embedded software, and hands‑on cryogenic test work. You will design and implement robust control systems for thermal and fluid hardware, while contributing to system integration, diagnostics, and performance verification.
Design and program embedded systems for active thermal control, diagnostics, and telemetry
Develop closed‑loop control algorithms (e.g., PID for temperature/pressure regulation)
Create and maintain SCADA or HMI interfaces for system monitoring and control
Design circuits for sensor integration, heater actuation, valve control, and interlock logic
Capture and analyze test data; contribute to system performance optimization and root‑cause analysis
Support troubleshooting and validation of prototype hardware in a lab environment
Maintain documentation for testing, data logs, and failure analysis
Work closely with the broader design team to integrate sensors, actuators, and control logic into the overall system architecture, ensuring the final product meets performance and reliability targets
Basic Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field
3+ years of hands‑on experience with embedded control systems
Experience integrating sensors and actuators into system designs
Familiarity with Python or C/C++ for embedded development
Strong troubleshooting skills with electronics and controls software
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in PID control loop design for thermal/fluid systems
Understanding of thermodynamic systems
Experience with cryogenic systems such as dilution refrigerators, ³He systems, or pulse tubes
Familiarity with DAQ hardware and software
Experience with high voltage wiring
Electrical panel design to UL/NFPA/ATEX codes
Comfort working with vacuum systems, cryostats, or experimental thermal equipment

Salary range of $95k‑$130k depending on experience and qualifications, eligible for overtime pay, with additional compensation in equity and bonus
