Our design philosophy is rooted in the Bay Region Tradition—site-specific and unpretentious, with strong indoor‑outdoor connections. Natural materials and the interplay of light are central to our work, as are the unique challenges of urban infill, adaptive reuse, and sustainable building strategies. We bring warmth to modern residential design, with careful attention to site, orientation, context, and the microclimates unique to the Bay Area.
MDa Studios is seeking a designer with a passion for design, an appreciation for material richness, and meticulous attention to detail. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with principals and team members across all project phases—from initial 3D modeling through construction documentation and administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES The designer will prepare architectural documents under supervision and provide design and drafting support to project teams across all project phases. Responsibilities include developing design sketches, layouts, and details in coordination with principals, project managers, and consultants.
QUALIFICATIONS
Accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture
4–7 years of post‑graduate professional experience
Ability to work independently and work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
Strong creative thinking and problem‑solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
Residential design experience preferred
Self‑motivated with a commitment to professional growth
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD required
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp preferred
Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills
Ability to effectively coordinate with team members, consultants, contractors, and clients
Comfortable in a dog‑friendly office environment
