Location: MDH RICA Baltimore, 605 South Chapel Gate Lane, Baltimore, MD 21229
Main Purpose of Job This full‑time position will function as an extension of the Director of Nursing/Residential Services on a shift to provide leadership and direction for the Nursing/Residential Department. The position accomplishes care through supervision, support, and assistance to RN’s, other Nursing/Residential staff, and others, and also provides administrative guidance during off‑duty hours as needed. Additionally, the position supports treatment of clients that are family‑driven and youth‑guided.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a health‑related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two years in a supervisory, administrative or consultative capacity and two years in a psychiatric setting.
Notes: Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree in Nursing or a health‑related field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a psychiatric setting for the required education and experience.
Candidates may substitute six years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include three years in a supervisory, administrative or teaching capacity in a psychiatric setting for the required education and experience.
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience and education.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications
Experience in mental health, specifically working with children and adolescents who have behavioral and learning disabilities.
Experience working as a team to audit medical records.
Licenses, Registrations and Certifications
Current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland Board of Nursing. Multi‑state license in primary states of residence may be required.
Valid motor vehicle operator’s license in the State of Maryland.
Current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
Special Requirements
Employees in this classification are subject to call‑in and must provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.
Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
