About NRMEDD NRMEDD is a 501(c)(6) non‑profit organization located in Bozeman, MT, serving as the federal designee for the U.S. Economic Development Administration for Gallatin and Park counties, with an additional presence in Madison County. The organization focuses on economic research and analysis, workforce development, community infrastructure, and other support projects.
Position Overview The Executive Director is the principal administrative and strategic leader, reporting to the Board of Directors. This role drives the organization’s mission with entrepreneurial spirit and strategic leadership.
Responsibilities
Strategy and Vision:
Guide the Board and stakeholders through development, refinement, and communication of NRMEDD’s long‑term strategy.
Resource Development & Stewardship:
Direct resource development, contract procurement, and securing public and private grants, including grant writing, program management, reporting, and compliance.
External Relations:
Serve as principal external representative, driving and stakeholder engagement, fostering a consulting‑like service culture across the region.
Executive Execution:
Execute demanding tasks—strategic research, economic analysis, budgeting, and professional report writing.
Internal Management:
Supervise staff and contractors, maintain Board relations, collaborate with bookkeepers on payroll and financial reporting.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience A. Education and Foundational Knowledge
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Public Administration, Urban/Regional Planning, Political Science, or related field (required). Master’s Degree desirable.
Deep understanding of economic principles, public finance, and rural/regional development challenges.
Knowledge of local government structures and federal/state funding frameworks (EDA, USDA Rural Development, CDBG).
B. Professional Experience
Executive or managerial experience in a non‑profit, economic development, public sector, or consulting environment.
Experience in solicitation, writing, reporting, and administration of federal and state grants and contracts.
Demonstrated supervisory experience with professional staff and contractors, cultivating a high‑performing collaborative team culture.
C. Technical Skills and Competencies
Translate strategic vision into tactical work plans and deliverables.
Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research, data analysis, and high‑quality professional reports.
Financial literacy in non‑profit budgeting, fiscal compliance, and collaboration with accounting professionals.
Public speaking, presentation, and written communication skills engaging diverse stakeholders.
High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and project management/financial software applications.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary: $85,000.
