Description As an Engineering Manager in the Special Projects group, you will have an opportunity to be part of an innovation-focused organization within Apple that is exploring the overlapping space around Simulation and AI/ML. You will be able to work on ambitious, high-reward, and impactful projects in the early stages of development. This team has a strong focus on shipping simulations in service of AI/ML projects. We use both traditional and generative AI techniques and we are looking for ways to adopt the best new techniques while making best use of long-standing ones. Our ideal engineering leader is fearless when it comes to trying new things and is willing to iterate on ideas. We value team members who can quickly prototype, and also iterate and polish all the way to high-quality implementations. Moreover, we value leaders who can foster collaboration within their team and with cross-functional groups.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of innovative engineers to create tools for generating 3D simulation scenarios, blending traditional and generative AI-based approaches.
Contribute to architecture, design and feature development
Develop and execute on a roadmap which delivers key tools to our customers in a timely way
Work with cross-functional teams to design, plan, and deliver
Strengthen the team by hiring and developing top engineering talent
Minimum Qualifications
Strong software engineering background. 5+ years of experience developing software as an engineer and/or a manager.
Software architecture and design skills. Ability to consider alternatives and manage risk in project planning. Ability to try new approaches to existing problems.
User-focused: passion for customer experience, attention to details. Experience with live production software teams and/or very active customers.
Strong communication and presentational skills
Experience leading the technical development of larger features and collaborating across organizational boundaries.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to build a culture of collaboration and productivity in the team along with supportive risk taking.
Ability to grow engineers of varying levels toward their career goals.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with 3D rendering, asset pipelines and production processes is a plus.
Video games, film production tools, rendering and visualization, desktop or web-based tools are all great backgrounds.
Experience with contemporary generative AI is a big plus.
Experience with large-scale simulation systems is a big plus.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $198,300 and $342,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
