Staff Machine Learning Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Machine Learning Engineer to contribute to cutting‑edge AI solutions at scale. In this role, you will design and implement machine learning systems that enhance search and retrieval capabilities, working closely with product managers, ML scientists, and fellow engineers. You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical strategy, and optimize infrastructure to deliver high‑quality, reliable services. Accountabilities:
Design, implement, and maintain scalable ML‑powered solutions, with a focus on search and retrieval systems.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define feature scope, technical approaches, and implementation strategies.
Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of knowledge sharing within the team.
Ensure high service reliability and performance of deployed systems.
Write clean, maintainable code and adhere to best practices in software development.
Contribute to technical discussions, design reviews, and continuous improvement of processes and architecture.
Requirements:
Strong programming experience in Python or Ruby, with knowledge of relevant testing frameworks.
Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns for server‑side and web applications.
Experience building scalable, high‑performance ML systems.
Ability to formulate hypotheses, conduct experiments, and analyze results to inform engineering decisions.
Experience with search technologies, ideally including ML techniques and Elasticsearch.
Familiarity with cloud services, preferably AWS, and distributed/event‑driven architectures such as Kafka.
Collaborative mindset with strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
Experience with DevOps practices, Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus.
Knowledge of PyTorch and LLMs is preferred.
