Congocamp
Great Adventures (GA) Junior Counselors support the classroom team serving rising JrK & K campers. You’ll assist Counselors in delivering activities and routines planned by the Great Adventures Program Director.
Responsibilities
Assist Counselors in facilitating GA routines and activities as directed (centers, crafts, story time, indoor/outdoor play, rest/quiet time).
Help set up/clean up materials and keep classroom/play spaces orderly and sanitized.
Encourage positive behavior, teamwork, and inclusion; offer age-appropriate prompts and supports.
Support restroom routines per policy, uphold hygiene practices, and report concerns promptly to staff.
Monitor safety in classrooms and on the playground; identify and report hazards; assist with incident documentation as directed.
Collaborate with Counselors for smooth transitions, line management, and timely arrivals/dismissals.
Meet or exceed ACA practices and Virginia child day program licensing standards.
Be punctual, prepared, and flexible; perform other supportive duties as assigned by the GA Program Director/Camp Director.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with young children (babysitting, peer mentoring, camp, classroom aide, or similar).
Warm, patient, and coachable teammate with strong communication skills.
Reliable and organized; able to follow directions and adapt to indoor/outdoor settings.
Pediatric First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain prior to the season and maintain throughout).
Interest in early childhood education, recreation, or youth development.
Eligibility Typically, a rising high-school junior or senior (generally 16+) and able to meet required background/screening checks per Virginia regulations.
