This is a part-time position with an estimated 24 weekly hours.
BASIC FUNCTION Performs supervisory, accounting and clerical work involved in maintaining various accounting and financial records associated with billing, collection, expenses, payments and record keeping activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Train and supervise departmental staff to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives.
Finalize all bank reconciliations for review.
Prepare journal entries and check those prepared by others, for review.
Monthly close of the accounting system.
Assist Manager in the timely production, review and distribution of monthly financial reports to departmental supervisors, management and the Finance Committee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough knowledge of finance principles including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage accounting department personnel.
Experience performing monthly financial closes.
Proficiency in the use of Excel required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Work requires knowledge of general accounting principles usually acquired through four years post-secondary education in accounting or a related business field.
3 years of successful experience in an accounting setting with increasing responsibilities.
1 year minimum supervisory experience in an accounting setting.
