Technical Accounting Manager
Our client is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to provide expert guidance on complex accounting matters and ensure compliance with evolving US GAAP standards. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker who can navigate technical details while keeping the broader business impact in mind. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to partner cross-functionally in a collaborative environment.
This role is onsite in Portland, Oregon.
Technical Accounting Manager Responsibilities
Oversee accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP and alignment with business activities.
Serve as a resource on technical accounting issues and evaluate the accounting implications of complex contracts and transactions.
Research, document, and recommend resolutions for technical accounting matters while monitoring FASB and SEC guidance.
Support financial reporting, including preparation of committee materials, SEC disclosures, and external audit requests.
Lead accounting for stock-based compensation, pension accounting, and assist with debt, equity, and proxy-related reporting.
Technical Accounting Manager Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and active CPA required, with at least 5 years of applied accounting experience.
Public accounting background strongly preferred; utility industry experience and regulatory reporting knowledge highly desirable.
Strong expertise in US GAAP, consolidations, and SEC reporting requirements.
Proficiency with SAP or other financial systems; excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, ethical standards, and ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
