Nutrition Care Services
Identify patients at nutritional risk.
Nutritionally assess assigned patients/clients as appropriate to the ages of the growth and development through the life cycle factors.
Assess caloric and protein needs.
Implement a nutritional care plan based on the assessment and needs of the patient, as appropriate to the ages of the patient's growth and development through the life cycle factors (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics, and Obstetrics).
Write orders in accordance with conditions of participation as outlined in the department policy and Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Provide nutrition education to patients/significant other as appropriate to the ages of patient's growth and development through the life cycle factors.
Oversee the Nutrition Care Technician.
Conduct community and/or patient education classes.
Advise Physicians and all related Medical Personnel in areas of nutrition.
Demonstrate competency in area of responsibility.
Participate in the development of in-service programs to food and nutrition personnel, physicians, nursing services, and other health care members.
Update Nutrition Care Manual/patient education materials.
Summarize patients' nutrient intake.
Observe patients during meal service.
Participate in quality assessment.
Precept students.
Market outpatient nutrition counseling services.
Requirements
Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Verbal and written ability required to comprehend and document dietetic practices, principles and theories, as well as to communicate effectively with Medical Personnel and Health Care Team Members and patients.
Numerical ability required to compute dietetic values of food.
Experience with high‑risk obstetric patients preferred.
Registered Dietitian with the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR) certification required or verification statement of completion of dietetic internship.
Salary Range $34.00 - $34.00 USD
