Overview
The Department of Surgery of District Medical Group (DMG) has an immediate practice opportunity for a full time Ophthalmologist. The Department staffs Valleywise Health; a community hospital with a State and American College of Surgeons designated Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center in the metropolitan Phoenix area with State‑of‑the‑art equipment and technology. Optometric and subspecialty support in Retina and Oculoplastic is available.
Responsibilities
Serve as a faculty member to DMG’s sponsored graduate medical education programs.
Assist in developing the clinical service line and provide inpatient and outpatient general ophthalmology services in elective and emergent care settings.
Share call coverage, teach residents, and collaborate in a teamwork approach to patient management.
Participate in collaborative research activities.
Qualifications
Completed an accredited ophthalmology residency program.
Board certified or board eligible in ophthalmology.
Fellowship training in Glaucoma, Anterior segment, and/or Cornea and External disease is welcome.
Eligible for an unrestricted Arizona Medical license.
J1 Visa waiver available for this position.

Our physicians hold faculty appointments and participate in inter‑professional teaching through the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance with a fully accredited ACGME General Surgery Residency. Our program is home to the only Phoenix ACGME accredited Surgical Critical Care residency. We are one of 13 hospitals nationwide accredited by the American College of Surgeons for Adult & Pediatric Trauma and Burns.
