LPN Neurology Clinic – Monroe – Ochsner LSU Health
Provides direct care (including IV therapy) of assigned patients per the Licensed Practical Nurse Act under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Directs auxiliary nursing staff and partners with a multidisciplinary team to deliver personalized patient care.
Responsibilities
Applies the Nursing Process for patient care through data gathering, planning, and evaluation.
Delivers care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served.
Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, family members, and co‑workers to ensure a quality experience.
Adapts to rapid change positively throughout the day as unit or department needs evolve.
Manages personal professional development and maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials.
Other related duties as required.
Qualifications Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Experience working with confidential information and in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
Licensure:
Current LPN License in the state of practice.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association; preferred IV Therapy Credentials.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Excellent organizational skills.
Good time‑management skills and self‑direction.
Demonstrates good judgement.
Good interpersonal skills.
Delegation skills.
Physical & Environmental Demands Heavy work: may require lifting 50–100 pounds occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, or 10–20 pounds constantly. Duty involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues, with an occupational risk for communicable diseases.
