General Summary Portfolio Manager (“PM”) is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the existing commercial loan portfolio and working closely with the SRM who owns the relationship of these accounts. PM maintains close contact with clients, leveraging relationships to identify and bring in additional new business opportunities, both in loans and the bank’s other products and services. PM provides best‑in‑class service to loan clients while following the bank’s policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

Work closely with SRMs and Team Managers on the assigned loan portfolio, monitoring and managing the credit quality.

Ensure each credit is properly risk‑rated according to the bank’s risk rating system.

Maintain and grow existing client relationships, cross‑selling the bank’s products and services.

Accountable for credit underwriting and origination of new credits from the existing client base, portfolio monitoring, renewals, amendments and annual reviews.

Prepare the Credit Commitment Report (CCR) with designated underwriters, loan assistants and other support staff.

Review client accounts and portfolios to identify and evaluate potential credit quality issues, maximizing credit quality and minimizing risk and potential loss to the bank.

Ensure compliance with bank, regulatory and credit requirements while providing best‑in‑class customer service and meeting required timeframes.

Qualifications Education

U.S. college graduate with a major in a related field – strongly preferred.

Experience

5‑7 years of loan account relationship management experience, credit underwriting experience, or a combination of both.

Thorough knowledge of lending regulations and credit/underwriting practices.

Strong loan portfolio management and negotiation (rates, terms, collateral) experience.

Previous underwriting experience in commercial lending.

Extensive knowledge of the bank’s credit policy, risk management, underwriting requirements and loan servicing.

Knowledge of commercial and specialty group banking products and services with proven ability to cross‑sell.

Skills/Abilities

PC proficiency.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual (English/Mandarin or Cantonese) a plus but not required.

Ability to work independently to restructure loans and/or lines of credit.

Organization, detail orientation and multi‑tasking ability.

Effective work in a fast‑paced, high‑production team environment.

Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Decision‑making accountability and effective communication with all bank personnel levels.

Other Details AVP: $80K – $110K per year VP: $110K – $125K per year Pay determined based on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
