Overnight Licensed Veterinary Technician - Emergency
BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is hiring an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to work in our thriving Overnight Emergency team. This position is offering up to a $20k sign‑on bonus!
Schedule:
Thursday‑Saturday + early open Wednesday, 7 pm – 7 am
Pay:
$30.00 – $51.00 per hour + competitive hourly shift differentials (dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool; candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience). We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4‑hour minimum. For example:
Mon–Fri: 6 pm to 8 am = +$4.50 /hr shift differential
Sat & Sun: 8 am to 6 pm = +$4.50 /hr shift differential
Sat & Sun: 6 pm to 8 am = +$8.00 /hr shift differential
Responsibilities
Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert the Veterinarian to changes and issues.
Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
Have a passion for mentoring and training other co‑workers.
Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro‑rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
