Hematology/Oncology Physician – UVA Health
Locations: Culpeper, Gainesville, Haymarket & Manassas, VA
About the Opportunity UVA Health is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Hematologist/Oncologist to join our expanding UVA Community Health Cancer Service Line in Northern Virginia. Based primarily at UVA Culpeper Medical Center and UVA Gainesville Cancer Center , this position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality hematology and oncology care across multiple community locations, supported by the strength of the University of Virginia’s academic medical center .
This is a growth position designed to meet the increasing demand for advanced cancer care in Northern Virginia.
Practice Highlights
Practice Setting: Outpatient, hospital-based, single-specialty group
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM (flexible 4-day workweek available)
Call: 1:6, providing nightly and weekend cross-coverage for UVA Culpeper, Prince William, and Haymarket Medical Centers
Clinical Volume: 15–20 clinic patients per day; average annual wRVUs ~5,500
Case Mix: 50% oncology / 50% hematology
Hospital Census: Average 0–2 patients daily when rounding
Procedures: Bone marrow biopsies (approx. 20 per year)
Virtual Health: Telemedicine and virtual consults integrated into practice
Support Team: Advanced Practice Clinicians (consult only), plus robust ancillary support including nutrition, social work, chaplaincy, smoking cessation, and patient advocacy services
Teaching Opportunities: Engagement with UVA Hematology/Oncology fellows (0–2 per year rotate through)
Qualifications
MD/DO with Board Certification in Hematology and Oncology
Eligible for medical licensure in Virginia
Strong interest in delivering state-of-the-art cancer care in community settings
