Position Summary The General Manager of Operations is a highly visible leadership role. This individual oversees the strategic direction, operations, compliance, and financial results for a designated operation. The GM is the primary customer interface for proposal approval and contract negotiations, and champions continuous improvement activities, LEAN practices, supply chain analysis, Six Sigma initiatives and ISO activities. The GM also develops marketing plans and assists in growing new business while ensuring operations adhere to the corporate mission, vision, and core values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures systems and procedures are in place for managing operations, equipment and products safely and profitably in accordance with company policies.
Leads operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals.
Sets goals to drive continuous improvement efforts.
Develops and maintains productive business relations with vendors, suppliers and all partners while ensuring OSHA, federal and state compliance.
Assists in setting standards appropriate to client scope of work.
Partners with senior leadership to develop and recommend annual operating budget.
Responsible for overall safety and security of the operation.
Develops team to achieve company and client objectives.
Actively supports mentoring, succession planning and management development activities at the site level.
Communicates the mission, vision and core values to motivate direct reports.
Qualifications and Experience
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
7 years’ experience working in logistics, distribution or relevant environment.
5 years’ experience in a leadership role in logistics, distribution, supply chain environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Demonstrated proficiency in applicable WMS systems.
English (reading, writing, verbal) with proficiency in business communication at all levels.
Strong attention to detail, good organizational and personnel skills, good communication, leadership, supervision and planning skills.
Advance level expertise required in accounting and financial mathematical applications to manage a P&L and prepare site/operation budgets.
Must be able to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a fast‑paced work environment.
