Role Description Form Energy is hiring a Staff Software Platform Engineer to be part of our growing Software Engineering organization. This organization is responsible for everything up and down our technology software stack, and is at the heart of making sure Form's battery achieves the best performance possible.

The Platform team is responsible for deploying and maintaining common, cloud-based software and data infrastructure used across the company. This includes everything from our Snowflake data warehouse, to the K8s (EKS) clusters used to run our software, to the streaming platform that processes telemetry data from our product in the field. This role is intended to be a technical lead for cloud infrastructure development and management, and will work closely with a distributed team of data and platform engineers. A key focus of this role is to improve the reliability, security, and cost effectiveness of our software and data infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to bring your cloud engineering expertise to help advance the development of our transformational multi-day energy storage systems.

What you'll do:

Cloud engineering including leading the design, deployment, and maintenance of software and data infrastructure used across Form to advance product design, engineering, manufacturing, and operations

Interface with firmware, embedded, and site software teams to design and deploy hybrid on-site and cloud-based software and data infrastructure

Establish standards for security, performance, and up-time of software infrastructure, and ensure these are met with the help of the Platform team and other Software teams

Standardize observability, monitoring, and alerting tools used across the organization

Implement IaC for existing infrastructure when possible, and lead and advise on IaC deployment for new infrastructure

Collaborate with other teams across the company to define infrastructure requirements for products including web applications, data pipelines, machine learning models, physics simulation models, and grid planning models

What you'll bring:

7+ years of professional experience designing, building, and/or maintaining software and data infrastructure, preferably with extensive experience using AWS

Strong command of python or go, and wizardry on the command line

Experience working with container orchestration tools, ideally AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) or Elastic Container Service (ECS); experience with Helm and ArgoCD desirable

Experience with streaming frameworks, publish/subscribe messaging systems, and Industrial IoT (IIoT)

Strong proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools like Pulumi, Terraform, and Ansible

Curiosity, creativity, and tenacity when it comes to problem solving

Experience working at both growth-phase startups and mid-to-large enterprises
