CFT is a nonprofit foundation that improves the lives of people in Texas by investing in health, wealth, living, and learning. Through community giving, grantmaking, and strategic initiatives, CFT manages more than 1,300 charitable funds and has awarded over $2.6 billion in grants since 1953.

We are seeking a Strategic Learning and Evaluation Director to lead the development, implementation, and management of a comprehensive learning and evaluation framework for CFT’s Philanthropy and Educate Texas teams, and to elevate the organization’s thought leadership through data‑driven insights and storytelling.

Responsibilities Strategic Learning

Build a learning and evaluation agenda aligned to CFT’s strategic goals.

Procure and manage research and evaluation consultants to expand internal capacity and produce deliverables for the board and field.

Communicate key findings effectively to diverse audiences to influence social sector strategy.

Data Collection & Analysis

Design and implement data collection methods (surveys, interviews, focus groups, case studies).

Apply quantitative and qualitative research techniques to evaluate program outcomes.

Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement.

Storytelling & Insights

Create clear, compelling reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Present insights and recommendations to senior leadership, emphasizing data visualization and evidence‑based frameworks.

Report on overall impact using storytelling techniques tailored to each audience.

Capacity Building

Provide training and support to internal teams and grantees on data‑driven decision making.

Promote a learning culture within the foundation.

Advise grantees on monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

Collaboration & Partnership

Build and maintain relationships with academic institutions, evaluation consultants, and community organizations.

Collaborate with program staff, fundraising teams, and other stakeholders to integrate insights into strategy and communications.

Continuous Improvement

Monitor sector trends related to evaluation and learning.

Lead efforts to refine and improve learning and evaluation approaches.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., public administration, social sciences, evaluation) or equivalent experience.

At least 8 years of learning, evaluation, or research roles, with 5 years in a leadership or management position.

Preferred experience in the nonprofit or philanthropic sector, with understanding of grantmaking and impact evaluation.

Strong expertise in qualitative and quantitative research, data visualization, and storytelling.

Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, SPSS, R, Tableau) and survey platforms (SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics).

Strong project management skills and ability to lead multiple projects.

Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
