Technical Sales Representative - Northern California
PPG is a world leader in protective and marine coatings, developing products that protect customers' assets in demanding environments including civil infrastructure, offshore, petrochemical, power, marine new‑build, dry dock and sea stock. We are seeking a Technical Sales Representative to manage the Northern California territory.
This is a remote role with travel, reporting to the PMC Zone Sales Director – Central.
Key Responsibilities
Achieve sales and net contribution targets by selling PPG Coatings products across major segments and distribution channels.
Open and service new and existing customer accounts in the assigned territory.
Respond to customer needs concerning product recommendations, applications and performance.
Analyze territory performance reports and develop strategic territory business plans.
Maintain a deep understanding of the market, customers, competition and developments within the protective coatings segment to identify sales opportunities.
Collaborate with PPG credit department to manage customer debt.
Qualifications
High school diploma (minimum).
3+ years of sales experience, preferably in the protective coatings industry.
Ability to work well with diverse customers.
Ability to calculate discounts, profit, commissions, surface area estimates and change orders.
Ability to read and understand product data sheets, MSDS, technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
Strong analytical and technical writing skills to report findings.
The base salary range for this position is $94,000 to $130,000. PPG offers competitive benefits including paid time off, health, dental, vision and a 401(k) plan.
