Job Overview As the National Sales Director, you will be responsible for proactive relationship management in addition to the profitable growth and retention of an assigned book of business. The National Sales Director actively collaborates with business partners to ensure smooth implementation and exceptional customer service for our clients. This position will manage Safe-Guard’s teams of regional and OEM account specific sales, product and training professionals.
The selected individual will be the primary driver of client satisfaction, account and business development, product penetration, and overall sales operations efficiency across all product lines. Key attributes required include excellent senior level client communication capabilities, strong team leadership skills, an ability to understand clients’ needs and craft custom solutions, and the adaptability and personality to drive results across internal departments.
Role Responsibilities Service
Partner with implementation team to ensure timely and smooth installation of new client relationships.
Demonstrate responsiveness to ensure prompt resolution of issues as they arise; facilitate resolution of customer service issues with aligned service teams; proactively anticipate and diffuse situations, resolving prompting by utilizing all appropriate resources as needed.
Effectively analyze data available via reporting tools to best provide summaries and trends for clients and to support renewal positioning.
Relationship Management
Build and foster relationships with assigned client book of business; develop customer specific business plans, including upsell and renewal strategies, identify threats, and outline areas of opportunity.
Collaborate with field partners to drive new business growth in alignment with regional goals; actively participate in new business acquisition (including requests for proposal, best & finalist presentations, etc.).
Complete a minimum of semi‑annual or quarterly face‑to‑face meetings with customers and/or agents, as directed by manager and based on client needs; deliver financial results and renewal positions to clients and producers within deadlines; engage senior leadership, as appropriate, to strengthen customer relationships.
Collaborate with business partners such as Sales, Underwriting, Claims, etc. to proactively develop renewal strategies, understanding case profitability, market pressures, service issues and long‑term opportunities; support renewal activities in partnership with the field partners and operations.
Business Development
Proactively develop and maintain an individual business plan outlining strategy to meet goals; create and maintain market strategies and plans for assigned book of business.
Identify opportunities for growth; mine book of business to identify opportunities such as new lines of business, increased market penetration, product design changes and increased growth opportunities to upsell and cross‑sell with clients.
Develop and implement strategies on all identified growth target cases, engaging the necessary Sales and Underwriting partners as needed.
Communication
Conduct all internal and external business communications with a high degree of professionalism to foster effective business partnerships.
Regularly communicate value propositions with customers; provide regular updates on enhanced services provided.
Internal Leadership
Develop, train and mentor a team of sales managers, product managers and trainers to maximize their contributions and achieve growth and financial targets.
Interact with sales, marketing and strategic customers to identify needs and spearhead projects that will bring value to client relationships.
Implement client specific sales plans and work closely with marketing on the development and execution of these plans.
Ensure resources are focused on priority product offerings and strategic customers through effective leadership and prioritization of projects and initiatives.
Accountable for assigning and tracking sales targets for all direct reports.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of national or regional account management experience preferred.
3+ years of industry experience in OEM Automotive Services, Insurance, Warranty, or Third-Party Administration is strongly preferred.
A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding multi‑region performance expectations.
Demonstrated skills in team leadership coupled with strong relationship building, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
Proven and measurable sales or account management leadership and motivational skills/results while leading a field team composed of 5+ members.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Familiarity/Understanding of automotive warranty industry in order to drive projects and outcomes across various departments such as claims, underwriting, technology solutions, etc.
Flexibility to travel approximately 70%.
Must be authorized to work in US.
Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
