We are seeking a highly experienced
Structural Engineer
to support structural reliability and
seismic assessments
at a refinery in Torrance, California. This role is ideal for engineers with deep experience in refining or heavy process industries and strong knowledge of California seismic codes.
Key Responsibilities
Perform structural reliability and seismic assessments for refinery structures and equipment
Conduct FMEA/FMECA and seismic risk evaluations
Apply CBC, ASCE 7, API, AISC, and ACI seismic design standards
Assess anchorage, bracing, foundations, and non-structural components
Prepare technical reports and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications
BS in Civil/Structural Engineering (MS preferred)
15+ years
in refining, oil & gas, or heavy process industries
Strong seismic expertise in high-risk zones (California experience required)
California PE
(or ability to obtain CA licensure)
Able to work 40 hrs/week on-site in a refinery
Familiarity with FMECA and risk-based methodologies
Requirements
Completion of 20 hours of safety training (Risk Level 1)
Pass drug test and meet refinery safety standards
