About the Role Skydio’s mission is to make the world a safer and more efficient place through the use of drones. Individual customers can deploy thousands of drones and docking stations. As a full‑stack engineer on the fleet management team, you will build the applications that help customers manage and scale their fleets seamlessly, from their first flight to their ten thousandth. You’ll work on the fleet management team’s SaaS platform, Skydio Cloud, and occasionally on the drone itself. You’ll develop with Python and Go on the backend and TypeScript on the frontend, owning features end‑to‑end and visiting major customers to iterate on your work.
How You’ll Make An Impact
Continuously design and expand Skydio Cloud’s core data model and API for drones and docks.
Build the core features of fleet management, including over‑the‑air updates, real‑time fleet health, photo and video asset management, security and permissioning, user and device management, and 3‑D reconstruction.
Collaborate across functions to design and deliver Skydio Cloud features that enable customers to scale.
Design secure, efficient, observable, scalable, and robust software for petabytes of real‑time data and video from fleets of Skydio drones.
Leverage experience and best practices to uphold and improve Skydio’s engineering standards, from code review to post‑mortems.
Participate in the rotating on‑call schedule to keep the platform available 24/7.
What Would Make You a Good Fit
5+ years of experience building product features from backend to frontend.
Ability to take a concept and drive it through architecture, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
Experience building and delivering scalable and secure cloud‑based applications with high proficiency in modern cloud technologies.
Direct experience with our stack—Python, Go, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, Kubernetes, Temporal, TypeScript—or similar technologies.
Compensation At Skydio, our compensation packages for regular, full‑time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of stock options, and comprehensive benefits packages. The annual base salary range for this position is $170,000–$230,000. Relocation assistance may be provided for eligible roles. All regular, full‑time employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s group health insurance plans, the 401K savings plan, paid vacation, sick leave, holiday pay, and other benefits under applicable federal, state, and local laws.
