Lead Civil/Site Development Engineer
to join our Power & Energy team in
Houston, TX . Additional locations considered include: Overland Park, KS; Oradell, NJ; Mount Laurel, NJ; Atlanta, GA; Seattle, WA; Boise, ID; and Hailey, ID.
Job Description This opportunity involves leading the design, development, and execution of civil and site infrastructure for power generation projects across a range of technologies. Your impact will include:
Developing site layout, grading, storm water management, vehicular circulation, underground utilities, retaining walls, and wastewater management.
Performing earthwork and erosion control calculations to avoid unnecessary environmental impact and cost.
Designing and coordinating across diverse power plant technologies such as biomass, municipal waste, geothermal, hydrogen, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, hydro, and solar.
Collaborating with surveying, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, and discipline coordination teams.
Maintaining productive relationships with internal teams, clients, material suppliers, contractors, and project stakeholders to meet quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
Conducting hydrology and hydraulic analyses to design stormwater systems and mitigate flooding risks.
Supervising and mentoring junior engineers and CAD designers.
Leading business development activities for the company and the civil discipline.
Interfacing with state and local permitting agencies and construction entities for U.S. and international projects.
Reviewing detailed engineering work submitted by others.
Coordinating with the Project Engineer/Manager to ensure scope, budget, and quality expectations are met.
Acting with responsibility and ethical decision‑making regarding company resources, funds, and conduct in accordance with WSP’s Code of Conduct.
Required Qualifications
BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering) from an ABET‑accredited university.
7+ years of post‑education civil engineering experience.
Experience working in consulting firms.
Professional Engineer License.
Site design experience for utilities, industrial facilities, municipal infrastructure, storm drainage, stormwater management, site grading, roadway and utility design, sanitary sewer design and analysis, construction specification development, and construction bid package development.
Proficiency with civil design tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D and stormwater design software HydroCAD; ability to manage Civil3D CAD designers.
Experience using Microsoft Office suite.
Strong self‑leadership, attention to detail, results orientation, and ability to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Effective communication skills and ability to work with remote team members via MS Teams, email, or phone.
Track record of maintaining workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
Availability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel as required for project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Power plant and substation site design experience.
Expertise with Autodesk Civil 3D and stormwater design software (e.g., HydroCAD).
Surveying and retaining wall design experience.
Managerial and leadership skills, with an interest in advancing to an Area Lead role.

Compensation Expected Salary (all locations): $98,300 – $175,230. WSP reserves the right to offer amounts within or outside this range in good faith based on qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
