Position Overview The Nurse Practitioner will provide
direct outpatient oncology care
and
clinical support for infusion patients and nursing teams . Working closely with UCSF physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and support staff, the NP will manage patient care across the cancer care continuum in an ambulatory setting.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct patient assessments, follow-ups, and symptom management
Implement and manage oncology treatment protocols (e.g., chemotherapy)
Support infusion services before, during, and after treatments
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
Provide patient education and ensure high-quality standards
Scope of Practice Under the supervision of the
UCSF Department of Surgery and Department of Medicine , and guided by
UCSF Medical Center bylaws, nursing policies, and medical staff policies , the NP may perform delegated functions within their approved scope of practice, including:
Management of chronic stable medical conditions
Evaluation and management of acute or urgent care issues
Implementation of specialty oncology protocols (e.g., chemotherapy)
Medical and surgical procedures approved for outpatient settings
The NP is responsible for maintaining
high-quality standards of care
for a specified patient population and demonstrating self-direction and accountability in developing this role.
Credentialing and Compliance All
Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
at UCSF Health must be credentialed through the Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) before beginning clinical work. This applies to both adult and pediatric APPs in inpatient and outpatient settings across all UCSF Health sites (Parnassus, Mount Zion, Berkeley, and satellite clinics).
Credentialing and standardized procedure approval typically takes
30-60 days
and must be completed prior to the first working day. This ensures the NP is fully approved to practice and perform delegated procedures within UCSF Health policies.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $100.48 - $130.31 (Hourly Rate).
