The Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO) serves as the primary advisor to nursing leadership to achieve standardization of best practices across facilities. Leads change and demonstrates interprofessional collaboration. Member of a nationwide team charged with actively supporting national nursing informatics infrastructure for VHA and advancing strategies for workflow and knowledge in clinical systems utilized by nursing staff. Qualifications
English language proficiency. Graduate of a professional nursing school approved and accredited by ACEN or CCNE. State or territory RN license; for foreign graduates, full unrestricted U.S. state or territory registration. Preferred: Doctoral degree in nursing or related field (DNP or PhD). 3–5 years of informatics RN experience. Proven leadership and data‑analytics skills in nursing informatics. Duties
Oversee informatics practice: establish clinical and administrative systems, design decision‑support tools, deliver educational experiences, and support research. Lead program development, project implementation, sustainability, logistics, monitoring, analytics, communication, collaboration, and education. Direct development and operationalization of nursing informatics solutions; analyze practice quality and safety issues. Provide visionary leadership in electronic health record capabilities, aligning informatics strategy with organizational goals and national VA initiatives. Act as a change agent fostering innovation, continuous learning, clinical excellence, and mentor staff.
