Practice Setting
Inpatient setting.
Daily census of approximately 7 patients.
Average 3 admissions per shift.
CVU team assists with patient questions during rounds.
Schedule
Shift-Based coverage for 1-2 weekends per month.
No long-term commitment required for this assignment.
Pager call with a 30-minute response time for emergent cases.
Procedures and Cases
Primarily managing CABG cases post-surgery.
Performing Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (must have case log).
Handling Cardiothoracic Surgery referrals from Cardiology.
AM rounding and as needed for post-surgical patients if changes in condition.
Requirements
Board Certification in Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery required.
Active Illinois State Medical License.
Must present a 24-month Case Log at the start of credentialing.
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and DEA.
Credentialing Requirements
Credentialing timeframe is 120 days.
Temporary privileges are available for faster starts.
Must have a clean background for consideration.
