The role:

Director Software Development Engineer in Test

The Team:

This Director-level role leads the

Enginuity-X team (Engineering Excellence)

within the S&P Global Ratings Engineering organization. You will drive

strategic Quality Engineering (QE) transformation , aligning

automation, performance, security, AI, and usability

with business outcomes.

As a key enabler of

Engineering Excellence , you will work horizontally across delivery ARTs, partnering with cross-functional areas to deliver

quality at scale .

Key Responsibilities

Automation Strategy:

Define and implement enterprise-wide automation frameworks integrated with CI/CD pipelines for scalability and maintainability.

Performance Engineering:

Establish standards and frameworks for performance, reliability, and scalability testing.

Security & Compliance:

Drive secure engineering practices, including security testing, threat modeling, and vulnerability assessments.

Non-Functional Testing:

Build capabilities for observability, resilience, data integrity validation, and regulatory compliance.

AI-Driven Quality:

Advance agentic AI platforms for predictive and autonomous testing, leveraging ML for defect prediction and risk-based testing.

People Leadership:

Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Cross-Functional Alignment:

Partner with Product, Architecture, and Delivery leaders to embed quality practices into engineering workflows.

Governance & Metrics:

Define KPIs and quality metrics to measure automation, performance, and security effectiveness; report outcomes to senior leadership.

Talent Enablement:

Develop career paths, training programs, and certification strategies to build future-ready QE talent.

Usability & Accessibility:

Champion inclusive product experiences by promoting usability and accessibility standards.

Required Skills & Experience

15+ years in Software Development Engineering (SDET), including 5+ years in strategic leadership.

Expertise in automation frameworks, performance testing, AI/ML platforms, usability engineering, and accessibility standards.

Proficiency in Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, and scripting languages.

Experience with observability tools (Splunk, ELK, Grafana), test data management, and analytics platforms.

Strong background in security testing and secure engineering practices.

Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, containerization tools, and IaC (Terraform/ARM).

Knowledge of data privacy regulations, masking, and anonymization techniques.

Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively across technical and business domains.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, telecom).

Exposure to AI/ML model testing and data observability.

Certifications in Azure, Data Engineering, or Quality Engineering frameworks.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only) S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $135,000 – $190,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographical location as well as experience and qualifications for the role.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
