A mission-driven clean energy company is developing a breakthrough approach to distributed power generation. By focusing on modularity, ease of deployment, and integration with existing infrastructure, this organization is unlocking new potential for underutilized energy resources. Backed by a committed investor group and led by a hands‑on leadership team, they are transitioning from R&D to commercial deployment – building systems that deliver reliable, clean power to the grid.
The Role This team is hiring an
Electrical Systems Engineer
to support the design, testing, and integration of power generation systems for a unique energy platform. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives at the systems level – connecting rotating equipment to the grid, aligning electrical architecture with field realities, and iterating for performance, cost, and scale.
You’ll work closely with engineering leadership to translate mechanical output into clean, stable electricity – specifying key components, optimizing system layout, and supporting testing from prototype through deployment. This is a rare opportunity to shape a core part of a clean energy product from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Specify, evaluate, and test power generation and power electronics systems
Design electrical architecture to convert mechanical energy into grid‑ready power
Support equipment selection and system sizing across a range of voltage levels
Create test procedures and support failure analysis for deployed and in‑development systems
Collaborate on interconnection strategy, including protective design and permitting
Contribute to continuous product development – simplifying, containerizing, and scaling electrical components
Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline (required)
10+ years of experience in power system design, preferably involving rotating equipment
Experience with generators, transformers, switchgear, VFDs, and associated infrastructure
Strong understanding of power flow, electrical protection, and grid interface requirements
Ability to work across disciplines and iterate in a fast‑paced, early‑stage environment
Why this Role?
This is a rare chance to join a deeply collaborative team at the ground floor of something new. You’ll help define a commercially scalable energy product, influence design decisions from day one, and work on a platform with wide application potential. For engineers who enjoy building systems – not just optimizing them – this is an ideal opportunity to make your mark.
