Overview We are seeking a talented Technical Designer with a strong focus on fit and garment engineering to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of patternmaking and garment construction, particularly for petite sizes, and will drive the fit and quality of our products. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure our garments meet the highest standards of quality and fit, enhancing customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the creation and evolution of foundational patterns to maintain a consistent fit across product categories.
Manage and update technical packages throughout the production process, ensuring clear communication of fit specifications to vendors.
Facilitate regular fit sessions to refine product dimensions, focusing on product types such as denim and other bottom wear.
Analyze sales data to identify top-performing and underperforming styles, using insights to drive fit enhancements.
Maintain product timelines and ensure timely approvals to align with production schedules.
Collaborate on the development and implementation of technical tools to support fit processes and innovation.
Work closely with vendors to manage fit assessments and implement adjustments as necessary.
Engage with design and product teams to optimize style and fit, ensuring a balance of comfort and aesthetics.
Conduct wear tests and leverage insights to support continuous product improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Over 8 years in women’s technical design, with significant experience in patternmaking and garment fitting.
Deep knowledge of petite sizing, fit, and garment construction, with an emphasis on denim is a plus.
Proficiency in 2D pattern software, along with tools like Adobe Illustrator and productivity suites.
Experience in resolving production challenges in collaboration with factories, both domestic and overseas.
Proven ability to develop fit from inception and adapt across multiple garment styles.
Essential Skills
Strong detail-oriented approach to technical documentation and fit assessments.
Excellent analytical skills to quickly identify fit and construction issues and propose solutions.
Highly effective communicator, capable of providing clear technical feedback across diverse teams.
