Overview The Construction Project Manager provides management direction and control of projects from concept design through completion, ensuring all client expectations are met. Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of quality management principles, general engineering principles, and construction techniques. This role requires proven ability to effectively manage people and resources. The successful candidate will oversee project quality, mentor qualified staff, interact with clients, and collaborate closely with internal project teams. Large industrial/manufacturing project experience is required. Design-build experience is a plus. Candidates must be willing to periodically travel to construction locations throughout the United States.
Responsibilities
Oversee the successful management of construction projects and provide leadership aligned with project goals, objectives, and client expectations
Ensure efficient coordination of project requirements and lead collaborative efforts with other disciplines
Review reporting systems and prepare progress and cost reports for clients
Promote and maintain strong client relationships
Develop subcontractor interest and review prequalification forms for bidder selection
Prepare bid packages, receive and analyze bids, clarify scope, and make award recommendations
Negotiate, award, and administer subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders
Establish and monitor project costs and schedules
Conduct job site inspections and lead project progress meetings
Review and process vendor submittals and expedite materials and equipment delivery
Prepare and distribute project status reports to clients
Assemble, review, and transmit project closeout documentation including as-builts and warranties
Develop site utilization plans and establish appropriate crew sizes
Ensure construction schedules are maintained by trade contractors
Develop, update, and review project schedules, three-week look-ahead plans, daily reports, and safety checklists
Ensure onsite adherence to company insurance and safety policies
Provide proactive leadership in developing and maintaining a strong safety culture
Coordinate and support the interface between design and field construction
Prepare required field documentation and reports (monthly, weekly, and daily)
Requirements
Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture
7-10 years of successful construction project management experience on diverse projects
Strong knowledge of construction engineering principles, including materials, methods, sequencing, scheduling, and estimating
Strong understanding of construction industry laws, contracts, and accounting practices
Knowledge of insurance requirements, liability considerations, and claims avoidance
Ability to interpret construction documents
Strong knowledge of field construction systems, practices, safety standards, and procedures
Working knowledge of Procore and Microsoft Project
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Willingness to travel (approximately 10%)
