We are looking for an exceptional regulatory and compliance attorney with experience counseling clients on the storage and transportation of hazardous materials in North America. The role is part of a global legal team responsible for counseling Amazon on a broad range of environmental, sustainability, regulatory advocacy, health and safety, and trade issues across Amazon’s diverse supply chains and stores.
In this role, you will be responsible for counseling on regulatory and operational requirements as well as impacting the development and continual improvement of technology tools used in our operational facilities and stores. You will need high judgment, common sense, and an appetite for innovation when advising internal teams. You will also lead Amazon’s proactive and reactive engagements with federal and state or provincial regulators such as the U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration.
Successful applicants should be fast learners who are detail-oriented, customer-obsessed, able to work independently, and comfortable making decisions in ambiguous situations. They will also need to be passionate about innovation, sustainability, and customer safety.
Key job responsibilities
Providing day-to-day advice to Amazon’s Dangerous Goods and Storage and Compliance teams;
Monitoring and advising compliance, business, and legal teams on upcoming regulatory changes and maintenance of existing compliance processes;
Providing mission critical legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools developed and used by the Dangerous Goods and Storage and Compliance teams;
Advising on internal processes and practices to support dangerous goods governance requirements and expectations;
Serving as lead counsel in the response and resolution of applicable regulatory inquiries.
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of legal experience;
Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent;
Experience in regulatory compliance management with government agencies.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in‑house work;
Experience with global and technical regulations attaching to the supply chain, logistics, manufacture, sale, distribution, use, or disposition of consumer products.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
