Position Description
This position is responsible for overseeing operations in the lab, which serves as QCi’s research, demonstration, and product development space. The lab in Hoboken develops and tests product lines such as Dirac-3, Vibrometer, QRNG and more. This position will directly interface with and support a dedicated team of quantum tech leads, with optical, electrical, and software engineers, meeting dynamic needs for equipment and space in a fast-paced startup. The lab equipment to be managed is largely fiberized optics, as well as free-space optics, electronic circuit boards, radiofrequency equipment, network equipment, laptops, power supplies, chemicals and more. There may be various additional requests to support the team in ways that are outside of normal operations. Responsibilities
Enforce safety rules: OSHA, Hazardous Materials, Laser Safety, High Voltage Manage Lab Operations staff and oversee facilities maintenance Maintain and enforce acceptable lab use and ethics policies Enforce access policy and prevent intellectual property leakage Consult with lab users and accounting department on lab equipment procurement Assist with receipt and maintain inventory of lab equipment Maintain storage of lab supplies, monitor consumables for resupply Perform return merchandise authorization (RMA) on request Ensure Electostatic Discharge (ESD)-safe environments Professional and prompt communication on email, instant messaging, phone, and in person with internal teams, external vendors, customers, and guests Enable good working order and efficient use of lab space Maintain a clean environment: take out trash, recycle boxes, sweep up Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Science (MS), or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from an accredited university in a science or engineering field 5 years of experience in production environment, especially in a management capacity 5 years of experience in a research laboratory, especially in a management capacity Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software Familiarity with optical hardware, for example: lasers, fiber optics, single photon detectors, electro-optical modulators, photodiodes, Familiarity with electronics equipment, for example: Signal generators, clocks, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, coax cables, power supplies Familiarity with server rack hardware, network equipment
