Job Summary Langan is seeking an

Environmental Practice Leader

to join its collaborative team in

Boston, MA . This leadership role offers a unique opportunity to drive the strategic growth of Langan’s Environmental Practice across Massachusetts and New England. The ideal candidate will have deep familiarity with Massachusetts‑specific environmental regulations (MCP, MEPA, TURA), site remediation and redevelopment, and public‑private project delivery. This role includes managing complex projects, developing new business, mentoring junior and mid‑level staff, and reinforcing Langan’s presence in the Boston market.

Job Responsibilities

Collaborate with colleagues and lead business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, expanding existing client relationships, and representing Langan at industry and regulatory events in Massachusetts and New England.

Serve as technical lead and project lead on projects involving Massachusetts Contingency Plan compliance, environmental due diligence, Brownfields redevelopment, Licensed Site Professional oversight, and vapor intrusion mitigation.

Oversee and manage multidisciplinary teams, including junior staff, senior technical professionals, and project managers.

Lead client and regulatory communications, including coordination with MassDEP, city and state planning departments, and other stakeholders.

Manage scopes, budgets, schedules, and profitability of projects ranging from urban infill redevelopment to coastal and climate resilience infrastructure.

Ensure quality assurance and regulatory compliance in field investigations, remedial design, reporting, and risk characterization.

Mentor, train, and support the growth and development of staff at all levels, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Prepare, oversee, and review proposals, technical reports, MCP submittals, and decision‑making documents for public and private clients.

Collaborate with other Langan offices and practice areas to deliver integrated services and support regional strategic initiatives.

Travel to client sites, project locations, and meetings across Massachusetts and New England as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or related environmental science field; Master’s degree preferred.

15+ years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, with direct experience in the Massachusetts market.

Licensed Site Professional (LSP) certification in MA required.

Strong knowledge of Massachusetts Contingency Plan, RCRA, CERCLA, and other federal and state environmental laws and guidance.

Expertise in environmental due diligence (ASTM), site investigations, risk assessments, remediation, and redevelopment strategies.

Demonstrated success in client development, strategic growth planning, and team leadership.

Excellent written, verbal, and public communication skills.

Proficient in technical report writing, cost estimating, proposal preparation, and regulatory interpretation.

Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary team environment.

Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for project travel.

Certain U.S. jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. The estimated range for this role is: $112,500 - $171,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
