Associate Medical Director - Physician Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center – Manhattan, NY

We are recruiting an energetic, clinically-oriented Board Certified Adolescent Medicine Physician to join our team at the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center (MSAHC) as Associate Medical Director.

Since its establishment in 1968, the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center has grown to become a model of excellence in adolescent health care nationally and worldwide. We provide care to over 8,000 youth ages 10‑26 years annually through its innovative integrated model, delivering medical, mental health, nutritional, legal, and optical care for all who come to the Center and our six school‑based health facilities, at no cost to them.

Responsibilities The successful applicant should have strong experience in clinical care and administrative leadership in Adolescent Medicine, including prior Assistant/Associate Medical Director experience. Job responsibilities include outpatient primary and subspecialty adolescent clinical care, inpatient consultative care, HIV treatment and prevention outpatient care, administrative leadership of the HIV treatment and prevention program, and administrative leadership of our outpatient medical program in partnership with the Medical Director. The Associate Medical Director will also engage in medical education of residents and Adolescent Medicine fellows.

Brief version:

Patient Care: Direct care in an interdisciplinary Adolescent Health Center, including primary and specialty adolescent and young adult health care, reproductive health services including LARC, LGBTQ care including gender‑affirming therapy, care for youth with and affected by HIV, eating disorders, and chronic disease.

Administrative Leadership: Leadership of the primary and subspecialty adolescent medicine clinic, including developing and refining clinical protocols, optimizing clinic flow and procedures, and implementing quality improvement projects. May also serve as administrative director of the HIV treatment and prevention program supporting multidisciplinary service provision to youth living with and at risk of HIV.

Teaching: Precepting adolescent medicine fellows, pediatric residents, and Icahn School of Medicine medical students in the outpatient setting, and serving as attending physician on inpatient adolescent medicine consultation service at Kravis Children’s Hospital of Mount Sinai Hospital.

Knowledge and expertise in HIV treatment and prevention is ideal.

A passion for working with young people and a work ethic focused on understanding and solving each patient’s needs.

Prior clinical program leadership experience (e.g., Medical Director, Assistant or Associate Medicine Director).

Experience leading quality improvement initiatives and familiarity with quality improvement methodology.

Experience leading grant‑funded programs.

Exceptional team management skills and strong commitment to mentoring, recruiting and retaining a multidisciplinary dynamic team in a multicultural environment.

A commitment to, and experience in building systems of care for vulnerable populations, particularly adolescents and young adults.

Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, empathy, compassion and patience.

A multitasker able to respond to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Strong interpersonal, analytical, verbal and writing skills.

Qualifications

MD Degree with Board Eligible/Certification in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine.

Adolescent Medicine board certification.

New York Medical License.

Compensation range: $190,000 – $275,000 (not including bonuses, incentive compensation or benefits).

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range and, in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside the listed salary range.
