Position Overview We are seeking an experienced NG911 Business Process Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the ongoing Class 1/2/3 and Call Handling upgrades of the Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG911) emergency call system. The SME will provide deep technical and business process expertise throughout configuration, integration, testing, and validation phases, with a strong focus on Call Handling System Integration.
Scope of Services / Responsibilities
Provide expert guidance to the New York City NG9-1-1 team across all NG911 components, with particular emphasis on Call Handling System Integration.
Deliver business process methodology expertise to NYPD and FDNY to support system implementation and testing activities.
Assist in developing detailed use cases and call flows for all NG9-1-1 call types.
Support NG9-1-1 Call Handling requirements, ensuring compliance with required standards.
Participate in system configuration reviews, integration efforts, and testing phases.
Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to optimize NG911 operations.
Work Schedule
Hours: 35 hours per week
Schedule: Monday – Friday, normal business hours
Note: Mandatory unpaid meal break after 6 hours of work
Overtime must be requested and approved in advance through the agency’s timekeeping system
Assignment Duration
Start Date: January 5, 2026
End Date: November 30, 2026
Mandatory Skills & Experience (Candidates without these qualifications will not be considered)
Minimum 12 years of hands‑on senior‑level experience as an Audio/Telephony Systems SME.
Extensive experience with Public Safety systems, including:
Quality Assurance
Systems Design
Development
Integration
Testing
In‑depth knowledge of public safety industry operations, regulations, and challenges.
Strong analytical skills to evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical and process concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated commitment to staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
Strong collaboration skills and experience working with cross‑functional teams.
High learning agility and ability to quickly adopt new tools and technologies.
Ability to leverage technology to automate and enhance business processes.
Relevant certifications such as:
Six Sigma
Lean
BPMN
