Head of Sustainability (Carbon Footprint) Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic, visionary, commercially minded Head of Sustainability to lead our strategic sustainability initiatives across Siemens Smart Infrastructure in the US. This role will be instrumental in driving our commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic performance. You will be a key advocate for sustainable practices, influencing our products, solutions, operations, and customer engagement, ensuring Siemens remains at the forefront of sustainable innovation in the infrastructure sector.

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and deep sustainability expertise, capable of translating complex environmental goals into tangible business value and market leadership. This is a pivotal role for someone passionate about driving real‑world change and positioning Siemens Smart Infrastructure as a leader in sustainable solutions.

Role Description As the Head of Sustainability for Smart Infrastructure US, your mission will be to strategically advance our sustainability agenda, both internally and externally. Your responsibilities will include:

Strategic & Commercial Leadership:

Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability strategy for Siemens Smart Infrastructure US, meticulously aligning with global Siemens targets, local market needs, and commercial priorities.

Identify key sustainability trends, market opportunities, and evolving customer needs to strategically position Siemens Smart Infrastructure’s offerings and value propositions for maximum impact.

Lead the integration of sustainability principles into vertical market strategies and messaging, collaborating closely with vertical market teams to embed value propositions.

Drive SI-wide commercial program management and enablement initiatives focused on sustainability, including developing and implementing programs like sustainable supplier frameworks and support for Small and Medium‑sized Enterprises (SMEs).

Act as a primary representative for Siemens Smart Infrastructure US in relevant industry associations, conferences, and external forums, fostering partnerships and positioning Siemens as a thought leader in sustainable infrastructure.

Serve as the expert on product carbon footprint, emissions allocations, and the broader Siemens sustainability program in commercial discussions with key customers and partners.

Program Management & Internal Collaboration:

Oversee the implementation and localization of global Siemens sustainability programs and initiatives within the US Smart Infrastructure context, ensuring effective adaptation and execution.

Establish and maintain transparency regarding SI-US performance against corporate sustainability targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), providing regular reporting, insights, and recommendations for improvement.

Manage and foster a vibrant internal community of sustainability experts across operations, technology, and business functions within Smart Infrastructure US, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.

Streamline and manage processes for responding to customer sustainability surveys, inquiries, and data requests, ensuring accurate and timely communication. Provide market requirements for documentation and action to relevant teams and manage progress to implement.

Provide basic understanding and guidance on Siemens Smart Infrastructure’s portfolio capabilities to support customer sustainability objectives.

You will win us over by having the following qualifications: Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, Sustainability Management, or a closely related field.

10+ years of progressive experience in sustainability leadership roles, with a proven track record within the infrastructure, industrial, or technology sectors.

5+ years expertise in sustainability frameworks and practices (e.g., GHG Protocol, TCFD, CDP, Circular Economy), carbon accounting (including product carbon footprint and emissions allocations), relevant regulations, and reporting standards.

Demonstrated success in developing and implementing comprehensive sustainability strategies and commercial programs that drive business value.

Extensive experience representing an organization in external forums, engaging with industry associations, and influencing policy or market direction.

Proven program management and organizational skills, with the ability to lead multiple complex initiatives concurrently and drive them to successful completion.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a large, complex multinational organization, navigating matrixed environments.

Familiarity with Siemens Smart Infrastructure’s specific product portfolio and market segments.

Established network within key industry associations.

A Master's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., MBA, Sustainability Management, Environmental Engineering) is highly preferred.
