About The Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery The department provides exceptional cardiovascular and thoracic care in Central Texas and beyond. It collaborates across The University of Texas at Austin, trains aspiring surgeons, and strives to define the future of cardiovascular care.

About The Vascular Surgeon Position We seek a full‑time vascular surgeon at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level to join our Division of Vascular Surgery. Candidates must be board‑certified or board‑eligible in Vascular Surgery and have completed an accredited vascular surgery fellowship or integrated residency.

Essential Functions

Provide comprehensive vascular care across a diverse clinical system including Dell Seton Medical Center, Ascension Seton Medical Center, two suburban Level II trauma hospitals, and Dell Children’s Hospital.

Deliver high‑quality clinical care, participate in on‑call coverage, staff outpatient clinics, manage perioperative patients, and respond to daily consultation requests.

Actively contribute to the education of medical students and general surgery residents.

Engage in clinical research, quality improvement, and scholarly activities.

Promote scientific inquiry by collaborating with trainees, researchers, and multidisciplinary colleagues.

Build and strengthen partnerships with referring physicians, hospitals, and ancillary care providers in Austin and Central Texas.

Assist in developing the data and evaluation infrastructure needed to routinely assess clinical quality metrics and patient outcomes.

Participate fully in departmental activities and comply with all departmental policies and expectations.

Qualifications Required

Medical degree from an accredited medical school;

Current Board certification in Vascular Surgery (or board‑eligible);

Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas (or ability to obtain prior to appointment);

Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary academic environment;

Outstanding clinical teaching skills;

Innovative self‑starter with a commitment to excellence;

Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills;

Eligible for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Dell Medical School at UT Austin.

Preferred

Experience delivering care through a multidisciplinary team and interest in driving scientific inquiry and clinical/translational research.
