Director, Software Engineering (ITSG60)
As a Capital One Director of Software Engineering, you will work on customer-facing web and mobile applications, highly‑available RESTful microservices, back‑end Java systems, and machine learning models using Big Data techniques. You bring deep experience in technologies such as node.js, Java, GO, AngularJS, React, Python, REST, JSON, XML, Ruby, Perl, NoSQL databases, relational databases, Spark, Artifactory, Maven, iOS, Android, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Lead, manage, and grow multiple product‑focused software engineering teams.
Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers.
Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios.
Continuously improve software engineering practices.
Collaborate within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full‑stack of tools and technologies.
Lead craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions.
Stay on top of technology trends, experiment with new technologies, and mentor the broader engineering community.
Encourage innovation, cutting‑edge technology implementation, inclusion, outside‑of‑the‑box thinking, teamwork, self‑organization, and diversity.
Improve velocity across teams.
Lead deployment of new and existing applications into AWS environments.
Break monolithic applications into micro‑service architectures and build new micro‑services.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
At least 7 years’ experience in software development.
At least 5 years’ experience in people management.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
10+ years’ experience in software development.
5+ years’ experience in Agile practices.
Hands‑on experience with AWS in an enterprise environment.

Salary Range (New York, NY) $287,800 – $328,500 for Director, Software Engineering.
