Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist I Highlights
The pay for this position is up to $120,000 annually.
Multiple shift options available:
Galveston & Angleton: Fri–Mon, Days
Galveston (TDC): Mon–Fri, 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m.
Galveston: Fri–Sun, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
Galveston: Tues–Fri, 2:00 p.m.–12:30 a.m.
Onsite position
This position is a Direct Hire, full-time role.
Responsibilities
Independently perform routine MRI and MRA procedures following established protocols and safety guidelines
Provide direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic and special MRI procedures, including sterile technique
Deliver exceptional patient-centered care and proactively respond to patient needs
Optimize imaging protocols to improve image quality, patient safety, and overall patient experience
Maintain strict adherence to MRI safety policies and hospital standards
Utilize AIDET communication techniques when interacting with patients and families
Perform weekly imaging equipment quality control (QC) and ensure safe equipment operation
Accurately document procedures and enter charges at the time services are rendered
Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to promote a positive work environment
Report near misses and safety events to support continuous quality improvement
Participate in departmental projects, shared governance, LEAN initiatives, and ongoing professional development
Use supplies and resources efficiently and comply with departmental and hospital policies
Requirements
Completion of an accredited MRI training program (UTMB MR Training Program accepted)
1+ year of MRI experience
BLS certification (American Heart Association)
MRI certification or registry-eligible at time of hire
Registry-eligible candidates must obtain ARRT (MRI) or ARMRIT certification within 6 months of hire
Proficiency in English (verbal and written) for patient safety and communication
Basic computer skills, including EHR, RIS, PACS, and office software
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and customer service skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
Working Environment
Work attire: scrubs
Equipment used includes MRI scanners (various vendors), contrast injectors, PACS, and EHR systems
May travel to other UTMB campuses as needed
Participation in call, weekend, holiday, and disaster team rotations required
Exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, radiation, hazardous medications, and potentially combative patients
Physical requirements include lifting/pushing up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing/walking, and sitting or standing for up to 60 minutes at a time
