About the Position
Intuitive Machines is seeking a Engineering Assistant – Space Hardware Design and Analysis to join our team. The applicant will be located on-site in Houston, TX.
Responsibilities
Partner directly with Design and Analysis Group Section Managers to provide engineering and operational support.
Assist in developing, updating, and deploying design and analysis training materials.
Update, maintain, and organize engineering documentation.
Compile and support the analysis of output from the group’s activity reporting tools.
Coordinate technical design reviews and manage associated tools, documentation, and workflows.
Review, track, and support execution of Engineering Service Requests.
Coordinate drawing review, release approvals, and fabrication documentation.
Develop and maintain automation tools that streamline design engineering tasks.
Create design models and drawings for projects using PTC CREO or Altium Designer.
Perform electrical and mechanical analyses using tools such as PSpice, NASTRAN, and Thermal Desktop.
Maintain configuration management documents and ensure design traceability.
Manage bills of materials (BOMs) and procurement lists for assigned designs.
Conduct investigations related to design anomalies, test issues, and process gaps.
Support the development, evaluation, and rollout of new tools, processes, workflows, and plans, present findings to the group.
Review proposals for new tools and provide technical recommendations.
Work in a laboratory environment following standard operating procedures.
Manage and contribute content to the Design and Analysis Group Wiki.
Maintain and enhance the Design Manufacturing Database.
Develop and maintain Smartsheet or SharePoint tools for drawing/design review tracking and resource allocation.
Provide hardware setup, logistics coordination, and support for the Engineering Development Facility laboratory.
Deliver design, analysis, and logistics support to NASA‑directed projects and internal innovation initiatives.
Learn and utilize configuration management tools such as Git and SVN.
Develop and maintain earned value monitoring tools for design and analysis tasks.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
General Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent experience in a related field.
Ability to coordinate and collaborate across diverse technical disciplines.
Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to conceptualize and work effectively in team environments.
Experience with mechanical CAD tools such as PTC CREO or SolidWorks.
Exposure to electrical schematic and PCB design tools such as Altium Designer.
Experience with programming and analysis tools such as MATLAB, Mathcad, Python, C++, or LabVIEW.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Willingness to perform additional duties as required.
Requisition Preferences
Experience utilizing Smartsheet for project tracking, workflow management, reporting, and collaborative task coordination.
Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and user‑friendly documentation, procedures, and reports.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including OneNote, Teams, MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to create and manage project schedules, presentations, and technical documentation.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the capability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
