Legal Secretary Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare and file legal documents in state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
- Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including court dates, deadlines, meetings, and appointments.
- Draft, proofread, and format legal documents, including pleadings, motions, correspondence, and discovery.
- Monitor and track case deadlines and docketing to ensure timely filing and responses.
- Coordinate the scheduling of hearings, depositions, and other case-related appointments.
- Communicate with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and other professionals on behalf of the attorneys.
- Perform administrative duties, including maintaining case files, managing electronic document management systems, and organizing records.
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation and provide general support as needed.
Legal Secretary Qualifications :.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Secretary, preferably in a litigation or general practice setting.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal court filing procedures and e-filing systems.
- Proficiency in calendaring and tracking case deadlines, hearings, and other time-sensitive events.
- Experience with drafting and preparing legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal document management software.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred)
