The Director of Pharmacy provides leadership and strategic direction at our partnered hospital while having the support and expertise of CompleteRx’s operations team as a resource. What You Will Do
Evaluate operations on an ongoing basis to ensure safe, appropriate, cost‑effective care delivery.
Develop, enforce, and maintain policies and procedures that promote cost‑effective, appropriate, and safe drug use.
Evaluate operations on an ongoing basis using principles of continuous process improvement.
Develop, implement, check, and retool action plans to address variances and improve efficiency.
Develop and maintain a medical‑staff‑approved formulary.
Supervise drug storage and preparation areas throughout the hospital.
Provide for the educational needs of healthcare professionals and patients and their families.
Ensure maintenance of an adequate drug supply and its integrity, and establish specifications for the procurement of drugs, chemicals, and biologicals.
Ensure strict control and accountability for drugs dispensed to patients or distributed to floor stock.
Assure adequate control and documentation of controlled substances.
Maintain a quality improvement plan for the department.
Ensure the pharmacy is in compliance with all federal, state, and other regulatory agency laws and standards.
Supervises, trains, mentors, and evaluates staff.
Develop job descriptions, performance standards, and performance goals.
Evaluate and counsel staff on their performance.
Prepare work schedules and monitor workload statistics; maintain an appropriate staffing level.
Provide for the educational needs of the pharmacy staff.
Act as a positive role model, mentor, and preceptor.
Promote individual professional growth.
Communicate with staff and promote staff ownership in problem‑solving and participation in operational decision‑making.
Prepare annual budget, control and reduce costs, forecast operational needs, and review expenditures to ensure budget limits are not exceeded.
Prepare a pharmacy budget annually.
Review monthly financial statistics and plan expenditures within budget guidelines.
Monitor and justify all expenses exceeding budgeted targets.
Ensure preparation and submission of patient charges and financial reports to administration in accordance with hospital policy.
Administer reports, documents, payroll records, employee surveys, and other required data.
Ensure applicable CE records and licensures are maintained in department files.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures that apply to pharmacy services.
Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
Establish the scope of services and develop annual implementation plans that contribute to the organizational strategic objectives.
Develop and implement a strategic plan for the pharmacy that supports the mission and goals of the organization.
Develop and implement pharmacy services in collaboration with associated department services.
Develop, implement, and maintain a program that improves the quality of pharmacy services and supports the quality improvement plan of the organization.
Participate in all committees/functions required by the organization including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Establish productive collaborative relationships with physicians, nursing, administration, and other hospital staff.
Meet customers' needs and expectations.
Maintain competency required for current job title/position:
Attend management meetings.
Sustain professional competency and promote development through participation in in‑services, workshops, seminars, and professional organizations.
Complete all competency/skills assessment requirements.
Be punctual and dependable.
Maintain a neat, professional, well‑groomed appearance; wear an identification badge.
Perform work within specified time frames; adapt positively to frequent interruptions and changes in workload and/or work schedule.
Provide courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and staff; demonstrate good verbal and written communication.
Work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff; voice concerns and suggestions to appropriate persons in a positive manner; foster a team environment.
Demonstrate sound professional judgment consistent with clinical/academic background.
Maintain strict confidentiality of patients, guests, and employee information.
Comply with all requirements related to risk management, safety, security, fire, and infection control.
What You Will Need
Bachelor of Science or PharmD degree required.
Current license to practice pharmacy in the State of Florida.
3 years of management experience.
3‑5 years of hospital pharmacy experience is required.
