Responsible and accountable for utilizing the nursing process in the provision of patient care. The Registered Nurse, in collaboration with other members of the health care team, assesses, implements, evaluates and coordinates all patient care activities, as appropriate to the age of the patients served and areas of practice. The role of the Cath Lab Nurse includes working with doctors and technicians in the preparation of patients for and in the performance of interventional procedures. Duties And Responsibilities
Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, cognitive and cultural diversity of the patient. Applies knowledge of illness, injuries and diseases and uses available resources in assessment processes. Provides written assessment of patient on admission and subsequently; based on patient need and IMC policy. Formulates a goal directed, individualized plan of care, prioritizes and utilizes efficient resources as developed from documented nursing diagnoses/patient care and outcomes. Collaborates as appropriate with physician and other clinical disciplines in planning interventions to meet patient and family needs. Implements plan of care, executing nursing interventions in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures. Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patients and families. Documents nursing interventions provided to meet assessed patient/family needs. Evaluates and documents patient response to and outcome of care provided and revises plan of care accordingly. Maintains constant vigilance over patients care to ensure that safety precautions/needs are followed. Participates in performance improvement activities for hospital and unit/service. Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team. Demonstrates ability to measure effectiveness of care provided and documents same. Collaborates with the appropriate with other care team members in planning and carrying out treatment regimen; provides direction to other members of the care team. Performs preventive skin measures. Correctly identifies medication and administers and documents medication correctly. Educates patients and family members prior to the procedure. Provides post procedure care. Performs other duties as required. Physical Demands
Involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing and bending. May include some repetitive motions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position without compromising patient care.
