General Counsel / Advocacy Liaison

Role Description This full-time hybrid role of General Counsel / Advocacy Liaison is based in Wichita, KS, with opportunities for partial remote work. The role includes providing legal counsel on organizational matters, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, and supporting corporate governance. The General Counsel will also address labor and employment law issues, oversee data privacy concerns, and advise leadership on legal matters that impact the organization’s operations and mission. Additional responsibilities include serving as an advocacy liaison during the legislative session and collaborating with stakeholder and affinity groups.

Qualifications

Expertise in Legal Issues, including providing legal counsel and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations

Knowledge of Labor and Employment Law and ability to address related matters effectively

Experience offering Legal Advice and guidance on organizational decisions

Understanding of Data Privacy and regulatory frameworks to ensure secure information management

Proficiency in Corporate Governance and nonprofit compliance

Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills

Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar licensure in the state of Kansas (or ability to obtain licensure)

Relevant experience in the nonprofit sector or within child welfare is highly beneficial
