Compensation: $122,044.00 – $183,065.00 per year (range may vary based on market data, education, experience, internal equity).
Responsibilities: Direct a team responsible for a variety of financial activities for the specific school or department, including accounting, financial analysis, audit, tax, credit and collections. Develop, evaluate, and drive financial plans and policies. Establish metrics and drive accounting, financial, and reporting policies and controls. Have accountability for performance and results of teams. Develop and execute departmental plans, including business, production, operational and/or organizational priorities. Control resources and policy formation. Implement functional or departmental strategy.
Essential Functions:
Assist in the development of costing concepts and mechanisms to create and maintain school or department financials. Develop and analyze reports to identify and investigate significant deviations in financial performance. Direct and manage financial reporting, cost accounting, and revenue and expense tracking. Develop, maintain, and implement reporting/analytical forms. Provide senior financial analytical work for the most complex projects for assigned school or department financial operations.
Develop and track key performance indicators for the school or department and report trends to leadership. Utilize enterprise-level reporting tools to develop reporting analytics which support operational decision-making and best practices for the school’s or department’s line of business. Assist with developing and implementing performance improvement programs which create a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Perform market and needs analysis for new programs to support growth and the capture of incremental market share. Evaluate needs of the regional communities and develop business and operational plans to address those opportunities. Track business improvement plans as submitted and approved by department.
Provide leadership and management to ensure assigned school or department leadership has appropriate data to make timely and future state planning decisions about operating, capital, and cash to ensure financial sustainability. Manage and lead the financial staff across assigned school or department.
Coordinate with departmental heads and others to ensure effective service levels and cooperative relations. Serve on various committees.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field and 8 years of financial analysis experience, including knowledge of applicable government regulations.
Master’s degree preferred.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Able to set priorities and manage competing demands. Highly motivated and exhibit innovation, good judgement, and reliability in the workplace.
University experience utilizing Workday Financial System, AXIOM Budget System, COGNOS, and/or Grants & Endowments software preferred.
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organization. Proven record of taking initiative and being proactive and a broad understanding of financial and policy implications within a university setting.
