Job Summary The Ocular Image Analyst (also called Reader) performs grading of ophthalmic images from clinical research studies following completion of the UREAD reader training program. Grading involves the evaluation of digital images on a computer screen and identifies/characterizes ophthalmic features and pathologies in support of medical research activities. Tasks include preparation of grading reports and writing of grading instructions.
Responsibilities
Grade images according to Reading Center protocols.
Enter grading data into an electronic database.
Provide feedback to the Senior Reader, Project Manager, and study sites regarding image quality.
Help certify study site technicians and photographers.
Perform technician and photographer evaluations and prepare evaluation reports.
Assist with revisions to assigned grading and imaging protocols to improve quality and efficiency.
Keep abreast of new developments and recommend modifications to existing systems.
Assist all UREAD staff members as needed to meet study needs.
Help develop grade forms and grading work instructions.
Participate in an on-call schedule as needed.
Might be required to work outside traditional business hours.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Social Science, Education, Public Health, or related area, or equivalency (one year of education can substitute for two years of related work experience); plus 2 years related experience. Demonstrated effective communications skills, commitment to excellent customer service, ability to use basic statistical and qualitative methods to analyze, interpret, and report data. Strong attention to detail and good observation skills.

Ability to manage multiple software programs together.
Effective time management.
Strong computer skills including proficiency of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Legible handwriting.
